Hobie Cat is the catamaran that made sailing something you do because it's fun. Seafari AB has been the Swedish agent for Hobie since 1995.
How it started
A surfer from California
Hobie Alter built surfboards in California in the 1950s. In 1968 came the Hobie Cat 14 – a light catamaran you could launch straight off the beach. Two years later the Hobie 16 followed, one of the best-selling sailing boats ever and still raced at world championships every year.
The idea was simple: sailing should be fast, wet and fun. It has held for more than fifty years.
